PORTSMOUTH - Leonard Smith Jr., 51, of the 200 block of Choate St., passed away Oct. 22, 2008, in Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. He was born and raised in Portsmouth. He was employed by the City of Chesapeake as a sanitation manager.


He leaves to cherish his memory a wife, Janice P. Smith; two daughters, two sons, mother, Maxine Smith; two sisters, three brothers, nine grandchildren and a special friend. Also left to cherish his memory are a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held Monday from 2 until 7 p.m. at J.T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Highway, Chesapeake. A life celebration will be held at noon Tuesday in First Baptist Church, Camelot, 1008 Sir Lancelot Drive, Chesapeake, where the pastor is the Rev. Cecil Wicker. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth.
