Patricia Bathe Carpenter, 40, died Tuesday, June 17, 1997, at Maryview Hospital after a courageous battle with an extended illness.

 

Pat was born in Norfolk. She was the daughter of the late Oscar A. Bathe and Wellena I. Bathe. She was a loving wife and devoted family member. Pat loved life and found great joy in helping friends and others.

 

She had a distinguished career in health care management which culminated in the founding of the Word Processing Center of Tidewater. She was recently the office manager for Dr. Glenn Fitz and Dr. Charles Olson.

 

She is survived by her devoted and dedicated husband, Russell L. Carpenter; five sisters, Loretta Lamb of New Milford, Conn., Betty Aldridge of Hebron, Ohio, Mary Stanley of Emporia, Va., Rebekah Sprague of West Valley City, Utah and Ruth Pinkston of Tampa, Fla.; four brothers, Eugene Bathe of Portsmouth, Paul Bathe of Hardeeville, S.C., Daniel Bathe of Suffolk and Joseph Bathe of Louisville, Ky.; 12 nieces, six nephews and 12 grand-nieces and -nephews.

 

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Joe Bathe and the Rev. Andrew Barton. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
