ONANCOCK - Larry Douglas Forbes, 58, died Sunday, April 18, 2010, in Nassawadox. He was the director of economic development for Accomack County. He was a former employee of the Virginia Department of Economics in Richmond, a member of Market Street United Methodist Church, the Rotary Club of Melfa, and a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oswell H. and Frances Forbes and a brother, Eric W. Forbes. Survivors include three sisters, Rebecca F. Stephenson and husband David of Portsmouth, Sue W. Cannella and husband Joe of Chesapeake, and Sandra W. Smith and husband Ray of Tyner, N.C.; a brother, Roger H. Williams of Old Trap, N.C.; many loving nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews; and his best friend, "Honey." A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 22, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Robert Chapman. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
