Portsmouth - Michael Lee Cashwell, 57, passed away in his home April 30, 2009. He was predeceased by his father, Roy Lee "Tink" Cashwell Jr. and mother, Shirley Herring Cashwell. He is survived by his son, Erik Leland Cashwell; his sister, Paula Fay (Craig); his niece, Cheryl Hernandez (Juan); paternal uncles, Howard, Vernon and Charles Cashwell; and his paternal aunts, Helen Ragland and Pat Faircloth. Michael was a graduate of Cradock High School, Portsmouth, and had started attending college when drafted into the Vietnam War effort. Michael worked in Shop 64, NNSY, for many years. Michael was a loving father to his son, Erik, a good friend to his former wife Catherine, and always offered a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He will be dearly missed. The memorial service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulders Hill Road, Suffolk.
