Portsmouth - - Harmon Clarence "Butch" Morris, Jr., 69, beloved husband, loving father, and caring grandfather, died February 8, 2015. A native of Norfolk County, he was a first class mechanic with Penske Truck Rental, after having retired from Hampton Roads Transit. Harmon served his country honorably in the Army 1st Cavalry Division, twice in Vietnam, from 1967-1968 and 1969-1970, and retired as a staff sergeant in the Virginia Army National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen S. Morris; son, John G. Carter; two granddaughters, Victoria and Emily, and their mother, Shawnea Carter; three sisters, Delores Hare, Dorothy Belcher and Betty Barnette; three brothers, Arnold Aultman and wife Libby, Wayne Morris and wife Millie, and Steven Morris and wife Debbie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 10 AM in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by Pastor Aaron Cross. Burial with military honors will be in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6:30 8:00 PM.
