Brenda Springer killed in crash

Rev. Brenda Keel Springer, 34 pastor of the Countryside Community Church of Esparto, was killed last Thursday morning at 11:30 in a highway accident on State Route 16 just east of Interstate 505

The Presbyterian minister was enroute to a meeting in Davis, following which she was to come to Winters to speak to the ladies Auxiliary of the Pioneer Presbyterian Church, at 2 o'clock that afternoon.

She had been pastor of the Esparto church for the past two years and is survived by her husband, Alphe Lon Springer; and two children, Alphe "Zack" Springer, 4 and Deja Avalena Springer, 2; her sister, Betty Jane Bryan of San Jose; her brothers, Herbert Keel II of Mississippi; and her mother, Evelyn Keel of Portsmouth, Va.

Memorial services were held  Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Countryside Community church.
