Joseph Anthony Giarmono, 45, of the first block of Maupin Court, a mechanic, died Oct. 15, 1990, in Gates County, N.C.

Mr. Giarmono, a native of Franklin, was employed at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church and Seaboard Masonic Lodge 56.Survivors include his wife, Cynthia J. Giarmono; a son, Domenick A. Giarmono of Portsmouth; and his mother and stepfather, Joyce D. and Carlos B. Berry of Chesapeake.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Sturtevant Funeral Home by the Rev. Kevin Wilson. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home and other times at the residence and at his mother's home, 4016 Birchwood Ave., Chesapeake.
