Portsmouth - Joy Sue McCaleb-Evans, 70, went to be with her Heavenly
Father on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. She was born in Portsmouth to the
late Andrew and Thelma New. She was an active and dedicated member
of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #993 in
Portsmouth. She is predeceased by her first husband, Darris R.
McCaleb, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, George "Bobby" Evans; two daughters,
Linda Sue DeShano and husband Kim and Doris R. MacGill and husband
Jake; a son, Donald R. McCaleb and wife Melanie; a step-son, Steven
Evans; a sister, Linda A. Holland and husband Tony; a brother, James
New; thirteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren and one on
the way.
A funeral service will be held 1 P.M. Monday, March 17, at
Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will follow
in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the
funeral home Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
