Loomis Carroll Raynor, 63, of the 3900 block of Starboard Road, died Jan. 26, 2005, in his residence. A native of Dunn, N.C., he was a retired fire dispatcher for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Alexander Baptist Church and attended Pinecrest Baptist Church. He sang with the group Heartfelt Harmony. Mr. Raynor was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Raynor; his parents, Loomis G. and Katie Sorrell Raynor of Portsmouth; a son, Robert C. Raynor and wife Suzie of Suffolk; a sister, Hilda Halstead of Portsmouth; a brother, Jerry G. Raynor of Wilmington, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Dottie Felts of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Brittany and Brandon; six nieces, include his three favorite, Cindy, Stephanie and Laura; aunts, uncles and many dear friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Shelton Raynor.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pinecrest Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Potter, Dr. Archie Corbin Jr. and the Rev. Steve Bingham. Burial with military honors will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at 115 Elmington Way, Suffolk.
