Gayle Lee Mayo Sr., 56, of the 2200 block of Dellwood Road, died Nov. 2, 1998, at a Portsmouth hospital.
He was a native of Portsmouth and was recently employed as a rigger foreman at Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was retired from U.S. Naval Reserves. He attended Grace Baptist Church in Virgilina, Va., and was a member of Lake Drummond Lodge No. 178 A.F. & A.M., and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran.Survivors include his wife, Judy E. Mayo; a daughter, Virginia L. Britt of Chesapeake; two sons, Gayle L. Mayo of Portsmouth and Matthew E. Mayo of Chesapeake; a brother, James E. Mayo of Portsmouth; and four grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Jack Stewart. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m. |
