CHESAPEAKE - Richard E. "Dick" Cutchins, of the 500 block of Copeland Drive, passed away June 25, 2009. He was 65. He is survived by his loving wife, Charlene; parents, Robert A. and Ruth C. Cutchins of Norfolk; a daughter, Kristen Winter and her husband Cory; a son, Clay Cutchins and his wife Suzi; grandchildren, Emma Winter, Jack and Natalie Cutchins, all of Pinckney, Mich. Also a number of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins survive him. He was a graduate of Cradock High School and Old Dominion University, Dick was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching and participating. He coached youth soccer, baseball and basketball during his 18-year residence in Michigan. But his favorite time was watching his daughter excel in her equestrian competition and his son in his multi-sport athletic skills. Upon retirement from General Motors Acceptance Corporation as the corporate insurance auditor based in Detroit, he and Charlene relocated to Chesapeake. They engaged in many activities with relatives and his old friends from high school and college. They also made many new friends in the Great Bridge area. The shining light of his life was his wife, parents, children and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. They will all miss him dearly. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by Fr. Ronald Naylor. A reception will follow at the widow's home on Copeland Drive immediately following the service. A private family burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
