Suffolk - Albert Odell Bass, 70, of Suffolk, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2011. He was born in Chesapeake, Va., to the late Albert and Gertrude Sullivan Bass. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Albert attended Deep Creek Baptist Church.

Albert is survived by his daughter, Robin B. Smith, of Suffolk; two granddaughters, Lauran H. Harrell and husband, Todd, of Portsmouth, Va., and Taylor D. Smith, of Virginia Beach, Va.; longtime companion Nancy Wynn, of Portsmouth, Va.; two sisters and four brothers.

A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at 2 p.m. in Crosspointe F.W. Baptist Church, 2460 Pruden Blvd., Suffolk, VA 23434 with the Rev. David Sexton officiating. Memorial donations may be made to charity of choice.
