Wayne Clyde Hathaway, 58, of the 4400 block of Carter Lane, died Saturday, April 15, 2000 in Portsmouth.

Mr. Hathaway was a native of Portsmouth. He had retired from C & P Telephone Co. as a cable splicer and maintenance employee and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Hathaway; a daughter, Michelle Simmons and her husband, Michael, of Suffolk; a son, Stephen W. Hathaway of Suffolk; a stepson, Chad Perkins and his wife, Elizabeth, of Chesapeake; and six grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Garland Hines and the Rev. Tom Potter. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and at other times at 4403 Carter Lane, Suffolk.
