VIRGINIA BEACH - Gayle Ann Buchanan Hilla, 64, died July 12, 2005. Mrs. Hilla was born in Canton, N.C., to Luther C. and Edith Swanger Buchanan. She had worked as a registered nurse for several years.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her parents, Luther and Edith; loving husband of 14 years, Steven A. Hilla; daughters, Rebekah Harris of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Katherine Newlon of Houston, Texas; sons, Harr Donaldson of Portsmouth, James Newlon of San Antonio, Texas, and Joseph Newlon of San Clemente, Calif.; sisters, Nancy Blalock and Linda Day of Chesapeake ; brother, Ronnie Buchanan of Chesapeake; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today at Faith Alive Church, 423 Shell Road, Chesapeake. Burial will follow at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.twifordfh.com.
