“BOJANGLES” LATEST OF 50 PRODUCTIONS

Brad Boynton, a leading scenic designer here for a quarter-century, died Tuesday in a Richmond hospital after a long illness. He was 50.

Mr. Boynton designed "Bojangles," now at Barksdale Theatre, as well as about 50 other productions.

In June, the set shop at Theatre IV, where Mr. Boynton was resident designer, was named the Brad Boynton Scene Shop. "As a scenic designer, Brad was, in my opinion, without peer in this community," Theatre IV artistic director Bruce Miller said. "He could take a $300 set budget and turn it into a work of art that looked like a million bucks."
