Sandy was a friend to all. She never met a stranger. Her kindness and generosity were as large as she was tiny.

Her husband Bob said that her death was much unexpected. She had been suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis for a few years, and the medication for that had greatly weakened her immune system. She developed a staphylococcus infection a week before her death and within two days developed Toxic Shock Syndrome, and died.

Sandy worked for the United States Postal Service for many years and was looking forward to retirement, as did her long time husband Bob McCabe, who was also with USPS.

Sandy married Johnny Zerkle her classmate at Cradock and they remained lifetime friends. John lives in Las Vegas, Nevada

Her family honored her life on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Dolores Community Center in Dolores, Colorado.

Sandy was a friend to all. She never met a stranger. Her kindness and generosity were as large as she was tiny.
