Suzanne Oliver-Trefny Class of 1957 | PORTSMOUTH - Suzanne Oliver Trefny of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., died May 3, 2009, in Portsmouth. Suzie was a native of Portsmouth, the daughter of the late Alex Oliver and Goldie Lowe Oliver. She retired as an eligibility worker from the Kinston, N.C., Department of Social Services and formerly worked in similar positions in Chesapeake and Newport News, Va., and Wake County, North Carolina. She was a member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Manteo, N.C. She and her husband, Jimmy, met on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and she loved and lived for the beach ever since. Survivors include her husband, James E. Trefny; daughter, Megan Trefny Bracy and husband James Scott Bracy of Portsmouth; and a sister, Jane Smith and husband Carlton Smith of Chesapeake. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Jerry Cribb and the Rev. Dennis Levin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dare Home Health and Hospice, 109 Exeter St., P.O.
