Her husband Bobby wrote of Emma Jean: ``Emma Jean was the Love of my life. I met her at the tender age of 14, fell in love, and we have not been apart since. She has been my partner in life and will be in my heart forever. I love and miss her, but will see her in heaven one day. Emma Jean loved and lived life to the fullest. She so looked forward to her weekend getaways at the Outer Banks and the annual Washington Redskins trip with her family and friends. She loved working at the Pines Treatment Center where the love and support of her many friends helped her tremendously during her long hard battle with cancer. She loved the special times with all of her grandchildren, like the walks on the beach, ball games, shopping at the mall, and taking them to Old Country Buffet where she let them eat all the goodies they wanted. Sherry, Vicky and Bobby would like to thank their father from the bottom of their heart for taking such special care of their mom and giving them extra time with her that we all cherished.'' A funeral with more than 200 folks attending was conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Believers Church by the Rev. Don Sheffield. Entombment is in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum. The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the night before the funeral at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. |
