ASHEVILLE - Jimmy "Junior" Sands, 73, passed away March 8, 2011 after a short illness. Born in Flag Pond, Tenn., he is survived by a son, David; daughter, Teresa; several grandchildren; and three brothers, Bobby, Gene and Roy. He was the son of the late Clemon and Ina Sands. He attended Craddock High School and worked as a Portsmouth police officer and general foreman at NNSY.
