B. E. ``Red'' Parsons Jr., 61, of the 3600 block of Millbridge Way, died April 7, 2000, in a Norfolk hospital.

He was born in Portsmouth, and was employed as a deputy U.S. marshal. He retired from Navy Intelligence and Virginia Power.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda K. Parsons; two sons, Christopher Scott Parsons of Pryor, Okla., and John Christian Parsons of Chesapeake; two stepsons, William Michael Jefferson II and John Paul Jefferson, both of Chesapeake; a stepdaughter, Catherine Elizabeth Cornatzer of Chesapeake; a sister, Kay P. Robinson of Portsmouth; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, William Kennedy Parsons.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Lloyd H. Garrett. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
