CHESAPEAKE - John "Eddie" Belcher, 68, of the 3100 block of Biscayne
Drive, went to be with his Lord June 11, 2007. He was born in
Pikesville, Ky., Aug. 21, 1938, to the late James Earl and Mary
Wright Belcher. Eddie was raised in Portsmouth and graduated from
Cradock High School in 1956. He resided and raised his loving family
in Chesapeake. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 42 years
as a production controller. He also was a baseball and football
coach for Olive Branch and Western Branch Little Leagues.
He was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather and friend and
loved with all his heart and soul. He loved to spend his spare time
at his cottage in Nags Head, N.C. All who knew him know that he is
now looking down to tell us all, "Everything's lovely."
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Christine
Moore Belcher; three sons, Eric Belcher and wife Debbie, Buddy
Belcher and fiancee Lori Cochran of Chesapeake and Brian Hayes of
California; a daughter, Cindy Degner and husband Don of Norfolk; a
daughter-in-law, Tracy Belcher; three brothers, Travis Belcher and
wife Dora of Bracey, Va., Morgan Belcher and wife Sue of Crittenden,
Va., and Colin Belcher and wife Peggy of Gasburg, Va.; a
brother-in-law, Russell Moore and wife Shirley of Chesapeake; three
aunts, Mildred Jenkins of Lakeland, Fla., Rosemary Crouch of
Chesapeake and Marjorie Oliver of Norfolk; and four grandchildren,
Clayton Belcher, Kaylin and Cody Belcher and Katherine Degner.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Pinecrest Baptist Church,
209 Felton Road, Portsmouth, VA 23701, by the Rev. Tom Potter.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will
receive friends at Pinecrest Baptist Church today from 7 to 8 p.m.
Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, will be handling
these arrangements.

Infusion Center at Sentara Obici Hospital.
