Camden - A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Barbara Jean Wimberley Mingis, 75 of Camden, NC died Thu., Aug. 23, 2012 at the Albemarle Hospital. A native of Craddock, VA, she was the daughter of the late William Jefferson Wimberley and Emma Katherine Hains Wimberley and the wife of Gerald Ellsworth Mangis, Sr. for fifty-four years. She retired ten years ago to Camden, NC and enjoyed gardening, painting, tennis and the ocean and stood strong in her Christian faith to the end. Besides her husband she is survived by her three children that she raised in Brighton, MI; Gerald Ellsworth, Jr., Jean Marie Mingis and Keith Allen Mingis; four grandchildren, Kari Lyn Branoff and husband Kevin, Rachel Marie Handyside and fiancé Jake, Rebecca Ann Handyside and Elisabeth Nicole Handyside; a great-granddaughter, Madeleine Emery Branoff; and a cousin Ann Marie Silverison. A memorial service will be held Sun., Aug. 26, 2012 at 4 p.m. at the New Life Assembly of God, 1958 North Road Street, Elizabeth City with the Rev. Clay Manos officiating.
