Logan Thomas Whitlock, Jr.

Logan Thomas "Country" Whitlock Jr. of the 400 block of King Street went home to Jesus on Nov. 21, 2003. He was born on Nov. 5, 1936, and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Logan Thomas Whitlock Sr.

He is survived by two daughters, Norma Jean and Rebecca Lynn; sisters, Nancy Ward of Windsor, Evelyn Monds of Elizabeth City, N.C.; a brother, the Rev. E. Clifton Whitlock of Norfolk; and many grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nephews and cousins that loved him.

Logan was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Portsmouth, Lake Drummond Masonic Lodge No. 178, Portsmouth Moose Lodge No. 898 and V.C.M.A. Logan also served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. Donald G. Belanus and the Rev. Richard W. Lovingood, with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Country Music Hall of Fame, Myrtle Beach, S.C.
