Hugh B. "Chuck" Slaydon Jr., 67, of the 300 block of Grayson St., died Sept. 4, 2004, in his residence. He was a native of Henry County, Va., and was a retired furniture salesman and member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh B. Slaydon Sr. and Marie Scott Slaydon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Faye B. "Jody" Slaydon; a daughter, Jodi Battle and husband Chris of Portsmouth; two sons, Keith Slaydon and wife Pam of Harrisonburg, Va. and Barry Slaydon of Portsmouth; two sisters, Sherrie Slaydon of Suffolk and Ann Forehand and husband Carroll of Portsmouth; a brother, Steven Slaydon and wife Dee of Chesapeake; and three grandchildren, Kyle, Haley and Shane.
A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Larry Adams. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Memorial Fund of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
