Richard Earl "Dick" Felton

Chesapeake - Richard Earl "Dick" Felton, of Beauregard Drive,
completed the mortal portion of the gift of eternal life on Monday,
September 15, 2014
Born in Wilson, NC, he was the son of the late Charles P. Felton,
Sr. and Rachel Leah Tyner Felton and was also predeceased by his
brothers Charles P. Felton, Jesse W. Felton and Johnny Mack Felton.
Dick's family moved to Norfolk County, VA. at age 17, where Dick
graduated from Cradock High School (then in Norfolk County) and
completed a four-year apprenticeship as an electronics mechanic at
Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA. Service at NNSY was about 12
years, followed by three years at SupShip, Newport News, and one
year at Fleet Programming Center, Dam Neck and twenty-three years at
Naval Sea Systems Command Norfolk, VA. Retirement from government
services was at age 59, followed by ownership and operation of a spa
repair company. Dick was a member of New Beginnings Christian Church
and had great fondness for his brothers and sisters there. He had a
very special love for all God's little children and took great
delight in watching their faces as he found quarters behind their
ears.
Survivors include his teenage sweetheart and wife of fifty-eight
years, Angela Roper Felton; a son Richard E. Felton, Jr.; a daughter
Celeana Leanne Felton; three grand-daughters Cheri Nicole Miller,
Jessica Laine Hare and Kelly Lauren Fulcher; six great grandchildren
Sasha Gabrielle Miller, Jason Isaac Miller, Josee Shiloh Miller,
Helayna Shine Hare, Cyrus Jordan Hare and Sadie Page Fulcher.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday,
September 21, 2014 at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home &
Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The interment will follow in
Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday at
the funeral home.
