Henry David Eason
David passed away peacefully at home with family present on March 19, 2013. Born in 1937 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Henry and Alice Eason, he earned his engineering degree from Virginia Tech in 1960. He started a new journey to the West Coast where he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Johansen, in San Francisco. They wed in 1962 and soon were on a romantic 5-month tour of Europe, the first of many. David and Betsy travelled the world, including Hawaii (where they lived for 3 years), Europe, China, Thailand, Central America, Australia and New Zealand to touch on a few. David will be sorely missed by his soul mate of 50 years, Betsy, and their children, Katie (Bill) Finley, Marcia (Andrew) Palk and Rick (Michele) Eason, by his 7 grandchildren: Cameron, Haley, Dre, Nick, Ethan, Lauren and Tanner, and by many friends and extended family including sisters Ellen (Bill) Yancey and Peggy Hinson. After settling on Mercer Island in 1969, he brought his gift of leadership to many organizations including Emmanuel Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry and as Senior Warden, and as president of: MI Country Club, Big Wheels, Kala Point, Leviticus Prayer Group and Electric League of the PNW. He reprised his role of grandfather in PNB's "Nutcracker" for many years. David will be remembered for the twinkle in his eye, his irreverent sense of humor and love of life. Most importantly, he will be remembered as caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. A celebration of his life will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Mercer Island, at 2 pm on Saturday, March 23. Donations in his name may be made to the church.
