Purity C. Pitts, 66, of the 3100 block of Hornsea Road, died June 17, 2000, in Chesapeake General Hospital. She was born in Mississippi and was retired from the Naval Supply Center as a computer supervisor after 20 years of service. She was a faithful member of the Indian River Baptist Church where she attended the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her father, Williard Lott.
Mrs. Pitts is survived by her loving husband, Grady Pitts; her mother, Dorothy Lott of Chesapeake; a son, Joel G. Pitts and his wife, Tammy, of Norfolk; a daughter, Theresa Hahn and her husband, Tony, of Chesapeake; four grandsons, Ben, Michael, Matthew and Nicholas; three brothers, Jimmy Lott of Chesapeake, Tommy Lott of Midlothian, Va., and William McKinnis of New Orleans, La.; and her loving extended family, James and Libby Keel of Chesapeake, Bill and Frances Pope of Chesapeake, Bobby and Page Keel of New York, Grace and Monte Jones of Chesapeake, and Tony and Debbie Keel of North Carolina. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Indian River Baptist Church where a funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Robert Jordan. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Indian River Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 1600 Laurel Ave., Chesapeake, VA 23325. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, is handling arrangements.
