Betty Jean Andrews, 65, of the 3400 block of Bessie St., died peacefully at home on April 6, 2000, after a nine-month, brave and courageous battle with cancer.

Mrs. Andrews was born in Erlanger, N.C., beloved daughter to Walter and Joyce Wiggs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Burley L. Andrews; a son, Burley L. Andrews Jr.; and her only brother, Charles D. Wiggs. She was a retired civil service worker for the U.S. government and the beloved mother of four children. She was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church.

Survivors include four children, Alice Joy Curtis and her husband, Michael L. Curtis, Arlene A. Kilgore and her husband, Robert Warren Kilgore, Roger Lee Andrews and his wife, Kristina Ann Andrews, and Arnold Lee Andrews and his wife, Julie A. Andrews; and six grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in McKendree United Methodist Church, 6870 N. Military Hwy., Norfolk, by the Rev. A. Bruce Carper. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may join the family at the church for visitation one hour prior to the service and at Mrs. Andrews' residence following interment.
