PORTSMOUTH - Lena Newsome Odom, 71, passed away Sept. 6, 2005. Mrs. Odom was born in Bertie County, North Carolina, and was a longtime resident of Portsmouth. She was preceded in death by her mother, Okie Lee Newsome and her father, Leslie Wood Newsome.

Mrs. Odom was retired from Citizen Trust Bank/Sun Trust Bank.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie Odom; a sister, Kay Leslie Smith and her husband Tom of Winter Park, Fla.; a brother, Larry W. Newsome and his wife Pat of Portsmouth; nephews, Mike Smith, Danny Smith and Steve Smith, all of Florida and Grant Newsome of Portsmouth; a brother-in-law, Mickey Odom and his wife Judy; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Edwards and her husband Earl, all of Chesapeake.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Tom Potter. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m.
