Harry Leigh Bartlett, 53, the president and owner of Nautilus Fitness Centers in several Hampton Roads cities, died Nov. 10, 1986, in his home.
Mr. Bartlett, a Norfolk native, owned the Nautilus Fitness Centers in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Hampton, Richmond and Williamsburg. He was in the health studio business for many years.
Although he devoted much time to his business, he had a penchant for classic cars. In 1983, his 1957 Ford Thunderbird won the Antique Automobile Club of America’s top award for the Best Post-War Car.
He was a member of the tidewater, North Carolina and national antique automobile clubs. He belonged to Classic Thunderbird Club International and the Virginia Classic Thunderbird Club. He also had joins the Lincoln Continental Owners Club.
Mr. Bartlett coached baseball for the Little Creek Road Little League. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. Therese’s Catholic Church in Chesapeake. He resided in the 2500 block of Indian Hill Road.
Survivors include his wife, Diane C. Bartlett; a daughter, Annemarie B. Jones of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, David W. Bartlett of Norfolk and Brian M. Bartlett of Virginia Beach; a sister, Alice B. Carl of Portsmouth; and two grandchildren.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Therese’s Catholic Church by the Rev. Daniel L. Kelm. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Foster funeral Home, Portsmouth is handling arrangements.
