Barbara Carol Herring, 70, of the 3900 block of Raintree Court, died Saturday, June 5, 2004 in her home.

A native of Coaldale, W.Va., she was the widow of Donald Ray Herring and was an active member of West Side Christian Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Donna Hollowell and husband Ray of Portsmouth, Pam Mashburn and husband Philip of Suffolk and Debra Kreisel and husband Steven of Suffolk; a sister, Marie Silverdahl of Portsmouth; one brother, James Barrett and wife Alice of Gloucester, Va.; five grandchildren, Joshua Sheppard, Ryan Kreisel, Tracy Hollowell, Daniel Mashburn and Andrew Hollowell; and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Sheppard.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in West Side Christian Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Contributions may be made to West Side Christian Church.
