Chesapeake - Vernon Russell England Jr., 79, died July 7, 2012. A native of Chesapeake, VA, he was predeceased by his wife, Joyce S. England and grandson, Justin England. Mr. England was a retired Planner/Estimator Supervisor at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and owner of England's Dolls and Toys. He was a member and past deacon of Cradock Baptist Church, Lake Drummond Masonic Lodge # 178 and Khedive Shrine Temple "Mini Model T" and "Antique Auto" units. He was active in the Royal Ambassadors, Soapbox Derby, assistant coach in recreational baseball and football, as well as having been a valuable member of the Cradock High School Football team. Mr. England was an Army veteran of Korea and a Purple Heart recipient.
 

Survivors include two sons, Vernon Russell "Rusty" England III (Karen) and David L. England (Cheryl), all of Chesapeake; one sister, Joyce A. Kayse of Zuni; and two granddaughters, Catherine England and Heather England. The family wishes to acknowledge and give special thanks to Phyllis Carruthers, a long time family friend who gave great comfort and companionship to Vernon during his final days.
 

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 11, at 11 a.m. in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. David Phillips. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel on Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com
