Class of 1950

 

 

Earl Norris, 84, of the 100 block of Snead Fairway passed away at home on Wed, June 21, 2017, with his family at his bedside. He was born on May 3, 1933, in Edenton, NC to the late Eugene and Alethia Norris and was also preceded in death by a brother, Ray Norris.

 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Nancy C. Norris; a daughter, Nancy L. Jones and husband Michael; son Michael L. Norris and wife Debbie; son David E. Norris; daughter in law, Debbie Lane and husband Jim; grandchildren David, Heidi, Heather, Alexander, Julia and Jessie; sister Rose Wright and husband Sonny, brother Danny Norris and his wife Linda, a host of extended family and many friends.

 

A loving, kind, and friendly man, Earl loved the Lord, family, friend, his country and the Washington Redskins. He was a member of Good News Baptist Church, a past member of Westhaven Baptist and a charter member of Green Lakes Baptist. He served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, chairman and member of many church committees and choir member. He was a 1950 graduate of Cradock High School and was a long-time roofing and building contractor.

 

The family will receive friends for visitation/viewing at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd Chapel on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 6-8 PM. A memorial service will be conducted at Good News Baptist Church, Taylor Rd., by Rev Mike Ascher on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 11:00 am with a reception following the service. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be sent to Good News Baptist Church.
