Benjamin Fred Lundie Jr., 68, of the 1400 block of E. Ocean View Ave., died Jan. 20, 1998, in a local hospital after a long illness.

A Norfolk native, he was a member of Cradock Presbyterian Church. He worked for Suburban Gas Co., Bay Towing and his last employment was as a security officer with Burns International Security Services. Mr. Lundie was a graduate of Cradock High School.

Survivors include his best friend, Sara Lundie of Newport News; a son, Kenneth F. Lundie of New York City; his mother, Mae H. Lundie of Portsmouth; a brother, Thomas L. Lundie and his wife, Carolyn of Chesapeake; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Lowe A. Norman Jr. and the Rev. Richard W. Lovingood. Family will be at Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
