Betty J. Manning, 71, of South Glens Falls, N.Y., died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, surrounded by her children, at Boston Medical Center, Boston, Mass.
Born on Dec. 29, 1932, in Long Beach, Calif., she was the daughter of Daniel and Bess Coblentz .
Mrs. Manning was the daughter of a Navy veteran and attended schools in several states. She graduated from Cradock High School in Portsmouth, Va.
She worked for Dr. Patrick Hogan, D.D.S., of Hudson Falls for many years. Subsequently, she was employed for Saratoga County Social Services, retiring in 1994.
Mrs. Manning was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the Bereavement Committee of St. Michael's Parish.
She was an avid Red Sox and Williams College basketball fan.
Mrs. Manning was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.
Her husband of 51 years, Roger C. Manning Jr., died in July 2003.
She leaves her son, Roger C. Manning III of South Glens Falls; three daughters, Pat Manning of Williamstown, Mass., and Kathleen Manning Bromstedta and Dr. Beth Manning LaLiberte and her husband, David, of Needham, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Kelly, Kari, and Craig Manning of South Glens Falls, Libbie Manning of Williamstown, William and Andrew Bromstedt and Joseph and Emma LaLiberte of Needham; a brother, Thomas Coblentz , and his wife, Marcella, of Athens, Ala; two sisters, Barbara Piper of Huntsville, Ala., and Joan Greenwald and her husband, Alan, of Hattiesburg, Miss., and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her parents, a brother, Danny, and a sister, Beverly, are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Betty Manning will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 28, 11 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Avenue, South Glens Falls, N.Y., with Rev. Robert Nugent, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be William Bromstedt, Andrew Bromstedt, Craig Manning, David LaLiberte, Michael Piper, Aaron Greenwald, Danny Greenwald and Thomas Coblentz .
Calling hours are today, 3-7 p.m., at Regan & Denny Funeral Home, 94 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls.
