YOUNG, Reuben "R.B," M.D., passed away September 17, 2012, at the Holy Center at Westminster Canterbury in Virginia Beach.
His early years were spent in Stumpy Point, N.C., Kitty Hawk, N.C., and Portsmouth, Va. He served on the faculty of the MCV School of Medicine for 34 years, specializing in Pediatric Endocrinology. For 25 years, he served as Volunteer Medical Director of Camp Jordan, a summer diabetes camp. A dedicated canoeist, he was an early champion of the James River in Richmond and proudly served as the Chairman of the Falls of the James Scenic River Advisory Board for 30 years.
A beloved husband of 59 years, he is survived by his wife, Mable Sumner Young; and children, Craig, Suzanne and Jennifer. Close to his heart were his three grandsons, Bryan Lytle, Charlie and Joseph Jaeger. Services will be held on Saturday, October 6 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel in Westhampton Memorial Park in Henrico.
