Peggy Kahler Philips, CHS-48 wife of Slade Phillips, long time Cradock Principal and school administrator died yesterday.

Portsmouth- Margaret “Peggy” Kahler Phillips, 86, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017, surrounded by family. She was born to the late George and Lillian Kahler in Baltimore, MD. She worked in the NNSY as an administrative officer in the production department from 1951 to 1972 and was a longtime member of Court Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving husband, Slade W. Phillips Jr.; son, Slade K. Phillips III and wife Lynn; two grandsons, Jason and Slade Phillips IV; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Phillips; and many nephews, nieces and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday, June 1, at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by Dr. Wilbur Kersey. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at 2:30 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family requests no flowers, but donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
