PORTSMOUTH - Thomas William Standin , 81, of the 5300 block of Greenbrook Drive, passed away Oct. 1, 2009, in Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 21, 1928, to the late Anora Standin Morris and was a retired naval architect and chief engineer with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He had 30 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Ginnie Standin ; two sons, William Gary Standin and wife Alice of New York and Henry Curtis Standin and wife Tressa of Portsmouth; a daughter, Donna Lynn Standin of Portsmouth; a sister, Ivye Hall of Chesapeake; four grandchildren, William Christopher Standin , James Michael Standin , Tina Marie Standin and Jenna-Mae H. Standin ; and two great-granddaughters and four nephews.

All services are private. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
