Richard L. Lumpp went home to be with the Lord on January 16, 2013 at the Blue Ridge Hospice In Patient Care Center.

He was born to the late Rosella and Burrell Lumpp on December 27, 1926 in Huntington, WV. He was a graduate of Craddock High School in Portsmouth, VA, a graduate of Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania and served in the US Army Air Force during WWII.
He married his soul mate, Elizabeth “Beth” Toney on September 14, 1946 in Bremo Bluff, VA. They were married for sixty-six years.

While living in Madison, Ohio Richard belonged to the First Baptist Church of Madison serving as Sunday School Superintendant and was on the Board of Trustees. He is a lifetime member of the Lake Shore Masonic Lodge in Madison and served as Worshipful Master and was Secretary of the lodge for many years.

When the family moved to Winchester Richard owned and operated the Forest Hill Associates and Service Master of Winchester until his retirement in 1995.

He belonged to the First Baptist Church in Winchester, serving as a deacon, as president of the Men’s Bible Class and sang with the Singing Seniors. He loved the Hunting Ridge Retreat and while he was physically able, he volunteered to do odd jobs and lots of mowing. He also worked part time for the Winchester Star.

Along with his wife, Beth, he is survived by a son, Richard E. Lumpp and his wife, Sharon, of Winchester; a daughter, Susan E. Lumpp of Madison; a brother, Walter L. Lumpp and his wife, Mabel, of Charlottesville, VA; nine grandchildren, Richard A. Lumpp of Texas, Karen Senn of Kapolei, HI, Michael White and Megan White both of Madison, Kenny Lumpp, Alicia Lumpp and David E. Lumpp all of Winchester and Rachael Wilburn of Bluemont, VA and eight great grandchildren.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Lumpp White, a son, David Lee Lumpp, a grandson, Stephen Lumpp and a brother, Robert W. Lumpp.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, January 20, 2013 from 2:00 -4:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home Winchester.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. George Fletcher officiating. A fellowship reception will follow the service.

A private burial will be held in Green Hill Cemetery, Stephens City, VA next to his beloved Patty and David.
