Robert Glenn "Bob" Jackson

Nags Head - Robert Glenn (Bob) Jackson, 92, of Nags Head, NC died Monday, January 29, 2018. He was born May 12, 1925 in Elizabeth City, NC to Gaither and Marjorie Williams Jackson. He graduated from Cradock High School in 1942 and attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute, breaking to serve as an enlisted man in WWII, and returning to obtain degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

 

Robert married Evva Jane Anderson of Kingwood, WV in 1951 and enjoyed four sons: Bob Jackson (Nancy) of Richmond, VA, Steve Jackson (Carolyn) of Raleigh, NC, Scott Jackson (Susan) of Sunnyvale, CA, and Mitch Jackson (Brenda) of Raleigh, NC. He was proud of 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

 

Bob was a member of Nags Head Church and a Gideon. He never met a stranger!

 

Bob was employed by Virginia Electric Power Company from 1948 until 1981.

 

He was part of the church construction mission team of Deep Creek Baptist Church for 26 years.

 

Bob was commissioned in the Civil Engineering Corps of the Naval Reserve in 1949 and served as commander of Seabees 23rd Naval Construction Battalion, and later as Captain of Seabees 6th Naval Construction Regiment.

 

In lieu of flowers please make donations in Robert's name to Gideons International or Nags Head Church.

 

Memorial service will be Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 11:00 am at Nags Head Church, Milepost 13.
