HARRISONBURG, Va. - Rose Everton Pollard, 87, formerly of Cradock, passed away Feb. 7, 2011. A native of Norfolk, she was predeceased by her husband, William M. Pollard Sr.; and her three sisters, Edna Gatzman, Nina Seager, and Jean Dixon. Mrs. Pollard was a retired teacher and guidance counselor with more than 40 years in the Portsmouth City Public Schools.

She was a member of Cradock Presbyterian Church, Cradock Women's Club, and Alpha Delta Kappa sorority. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and making crafts for the Craft Shoppe. She is survived by one son, William M. Pollard Jr. and wife Susan, of Bridgewater; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Rhines and husband Chris of Midlothian, and Jeff Pollard and wife Olivia of Richmond. A funeral will be held Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Richard Lovingood. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
