Janice Proffitt Ryals , 85, of Carolina House of Elizabeth City, died July 13, 2002.

A celebration of Mrs. Ryals ' life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Evergreen Cemetery, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Gerald Smith of Carolina House. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Evans Funerals & Cremations of Edenton.
