Portsmouth - Katherine Grimes Rowe, 97, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013. She was born in Tarboro, NC to the late James and Annie Grimes. She was the valedictorian of Cradock High School in 1931, retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was a member of Simonsdale Presbyterian Church. She is predeceased by her husband, Theodore C. Rowe, Jr. and a son, Theodore C. Rowe, III
She is survived a daughter, Joanne Rowe; a sister, Estelle Heinrich; a brother, James Henry Grimes and wife Barbara; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 3 P.M. Tuesday, March 26, at Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Martha Shute. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel Tuesday from 12 - 1 P.M.
