Vernon B. Kloeppel, 72, of the 2100 block of Arbutus Circle, a retired Navy chief warrant officer, died Aug. 13, 1990.
Mr. Kloeppel, a native of South Sioux City, Neb., was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a teacher at Cradock High School from 1964 to 1977. He was past secretary and treasurer of the Cradock Lions Club and past secretary, treasurer and board member of the East Coast Region Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 37. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Pederson Kloeppel; three sons, Byron P. Kloeppel of Virginia Beach, and Michael W. Kloeppel and Eugene J. Kloeppel, both of Portsmouth; a sister, Betty Holmquist of Minneapolis; two brothers, Arnold Kloeppel of San Jose, Calif., and Eugene Kloeppel, of Sioux City, Iowa; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, by the Rev. Jerry Holcomb. Burial will be at sea. Friends may join the family after the service at 2137 Arbutus Circle, Chesapeake.
